The Savoy Concierge Guide to London - September 2019

If you have any questions or need help with your plans to make the most of your time in London, The Concierge desk at The Savoy is located in the Front Hall and opens daily, from 8.00am to 10.00pm.


> Totally Thames 2019 (1 – 30 September) – See London’s river Thames brought to life in a month-long season of events along the river’s 42-mile (68km) stretch during the annual Totally Thames festival. Since launching in 2014, the celebration has successfully created many unique opportunities to learn about London’s famous river. Walk along the Thames to see large-scale art installations, free exhibitions and live performances. Enjoy a concert below river-level or join an archaeological tour of the river’s surroundings. See boats of all sizes cruise down the river, or get on the water yourself with water sports and boat parties.

> London Design Festival (12 – 22 September) – Explore a range of creative installations and join events celebrating contemporary design during the annual London Design Festival (LDF), which transforms the city into an enormous art piece. The annual festival has been showcasing the work of designers, architects, artists and retailers since 2003. Find more than 400 large-scale installations, exhibitions and events in unique spaces across London, from world-famous museums to small local studios.

> BBC Proms in the Park  (14 September) – Experience Britain’s largest open-air classical music event with BBC Proms in the Park in London’s Hyde Park. One of the highlights of the BBC Proms, this spectacular annual outdoor concert is full of British eccentricity and takes place on the closing night of the two-month classical music festival.

> Open House London  (22 – 23 September) – Celebrate London’s architectural wonders as Open House London throws open the doors of more than 800 buildings and spaces around the capital. Enjoy free access to public buildings, private houses, churches, museums, schools and offices, and join tours, guided walks and activities throughout the weekend.
