Savoy Residents

Part of The Savoy family, each one of our talented residents brings their unique expertise to enhance the experience and create memories for our guests.


Damian Barr, award-winning writer, columnist and author of Maggie & Me, is The Savoy’s Literary Ambassador. Damian has revived the hotel’s famous Writer-in-Residence programme, will be introducing a Book Butler to oversee a seasonal library for guests, and continues to host his sell-out Literary Salons in the Lancaster Ballroom.

Each Writer-in-Residence brings their unique voice to the hotel and takes up residency for around three weeks working on an exclusive story and appearing at events. Sarah Perry, author of The Essex Serpent and After Me Comes the Flood resided at The Savoy in October 2018 during the launch her Sunday Times Bestseller, Melmoth. In 2020, The Savoy will also welcome Aminatta Forna and Garth Greenwell as Writers in Residence.

Award-winning author of the novels HappinessThe Hired ManThe Memory of Love and Ancestor Stones, and a memoir The Devil that Danced on the Waterauthor, Aminatta Forna is the latests writer taking up residency at The Savoy as part of the revived Writer-in-Residence programme.

Highly-acclaimed jazz vocalist, Judi Jackson is The Savoy’s first Musician-in-Residence, playing in the heart of the hotel as part of our live entertainment programme Live at The Savoy.

Having recently launched her debut album ‘Live in London’, the Virginia-born jazz vocalist and performer will embark on her new residency at The Savoy with an exciting new repertoire. Frequently on the road, Jackson has sold out headline shows world-wide and has collaborated with the likes of Warner Music’s George Moore and Michael League, member of Grammy award-winning band Snarky Puppy, for the creation of her 2017 EP ‘Blame it on my Youth.’

Named by The Evening Standard as one of the most influential Londoners under 25, British satirical cartoonist Zoom Rockman is The Savoy’s Artist-in-Residence. Zoom’s first commission for The Savoy was a six-piece illustration series of Sir Winston Churchill now on display at Simpson’s in the Strand.
